Business Owner/Managers because they’d like to understand what they’ve bought or are buying from web designers. 

Some people even use our training make a start on building their own website. Everyone finds that they can manage their own content without having to pay a full-blown website designer.

Uni-Students wanting to gain valuable skills for the workforce.

Non-Technical Training

This is not a technical course, we don’t teach programming.

We will touch on some elements of how the programming works behind the scenes but our focus is on getting you practical pragmatic help to use your website, not on becoming a website builder.

We work with WordPress because it is a fantastic content management system (CMS).

It provides normal people like you with the freedom to manage your own website.

You’ve almost certainly heard of WordPress, and if you haven’t then you’ve certainly visited hundreds of websites running it.

  • WordPress is the most popular website publishing system and is currently used by 30% of all websites on the internet
  • You’ll certainly hear people “in the know” and normal people tell you they find it easy to use
  • It makes you a cup of tea and brings you a biscuit (not true yet, one day maybe.)

It is most of these things and much more!

WordPress is a fantastic content management system for many reasons, but without the right training, your investment in a WordPress website design could leave you feeling like it was a waste of time and money.

WordPress Training Sessions

Session One - Half Day

  • Audience Check + Goals & Objectives
  • Basics of Content Management
  • Build your very own WordPress website
  • Set-up your new WordPress website..
  • .. as Personal Blog or Business Website 
  • Learn about Pages -vs- Posts
  • Some SEO advice about using Pages, Posts & Categories
  • Hands-On: Add+edit pages, learn about the options and features of WordPress
  • Plugins: What they are, how to choose them.

  • Homework 1: Add pages for Session #2
  • Homework 2: Find some plugins 

Session Two - Half Day

  • Installing Plugins we'll work with
  • Install a theme+builder we can use to style your website
  • How to manage widgets and menus
  • Customise the theme to add style & colours
  • How to backup and upgrade your website

Freedom Time

Work on your own WordPress website ask for help as you go and get help from the trainer during the group session - others can see the help you get so it helps them too.

Be ready!

  • Have a reliable computer to work on
  • Ensure you have Google Chrome (Firefox is okay too, but better if everyone is on the same browser)
  • When you get the zoom invite from us please check you can run zoom
  • You must have a microphone so we can converse quickly and efficiently
  • It’d be wise to have a camera* so everyone can get the most from the online meeting
  • Please check that you know how to mute your mic. Ben will ask everyone to be on mute and you can unmute when you have a question. This reduces distractions from external noises.
  • A learning mindset - This means being ready to ask questions so you YOU get what YOU want from the WordPress training.

*You’re welcome to leave the camera/video feed off but at times Ben will want you to share your screen with the group as part of the learning experience.
